THE DIVING

Steve Bowles Scorpion FishLanzarote's volcanic origins have blessed her waters with spectacular formations and structural diversity. From shallow patch reefs to deep water, walls, caverns, overhangs, holes, wrecks and drop-offs, Lanzarote offers interesting diving at all depths and for all divers' experience levels. For wreck diving enthusiasts we offer three different sites where the wrecks are virtually intact and the visibility is good! The majority of the diving takes place off the east and south facing coasts of the island which are protected from the prevailing winds. Tides and currents do not normally present any serious problems to divers and visibility generally ranges between 15 and 30 metres.

Lanzarote offers all year-round diving with seasonal differences in water temperature and surface conditions. Winter months bring cooler water temperatures ranging from 17-21
o Centigrade, whereas summer months yield 21-24o Centigrade.

Nature itself ensures a variety of different marine activities and aquatic visitors throughout the year. The marine life is varied from small arrow crabs, octopus and nudibranches, to large groupers, rays, shoals of barracudas and angel sharks. More than 350 different species of fish and 1200 different types of invertebrates have been recorded in the waters of the Canary Islands.

Steve Bowles Sea HorseOur Dive Centre boasts access to nearly 30 dive sites including the Marine Park of Fuerteventura and Los Lobos. Most of the dive sites are close into the shore as the waters deepen very quickly. Whilst many of the sites can be made as shore dives, we offer a skippered RIB which not only is more comfortable and convenient, but also allows us to visit less accessible dive locations. (Check out our Dive Sites page for more in depth details.)

Qualified divers can join us for morning and/or afternoon guided boat dives from our fully equipped 7.5 metre RIB which is berthed a few metres from the dive centre. Your safety is of the utmost importance to us and our boat is always equipped with Oxygen, First Aid Kit, VHF radio, and GPS. Our experienced crew will take you to the best dive site for the day's conditions and match your diving ability to the selection. With the variety of diving that is offered, plan at least a few days of diving to enjoy a real sampling of Lanzarote's diversity.

Don't forget that it is of utmost importance that you have adequate personal diving insurance.  Please check out our scuba diving insurance page.
